چکیده

In this chapter we discuss the problem of searching a database of hand-drawn documents for a particular hand-drawn query. We show how to break the problem into two parts. First, a matching algorithm must extract pieces of the query and pieces of the database that might be placed in correspondence. Second, the algorithm must examine the pieces in detail to determine how similar they are. We present a general framework that generates potential matches to be examined, and we give two candidate algorithms for the underlying comparison. The rst underlying match algorithm is result of prior work in script matching; the second is a standard dynamic programming-based elastic match. We give experimental data based on 125 database pictures and 125 query pictures to show that our algorithms can eeectively search handwritten data for pictures, even though stroke orders and overall page structure of queries and their intended hits in the database can diier substantially.

A Novel Temporal-Frequency Domain Error Concealment Method for Motion Jpeg

Motion-JPEG is a common video format for compression of motion images with highquality using JPEG standard for each frame of the video. During transmission through a noisychannel some blocks of data are lost or corrupted, and the quality of decompression frames decreased. In this paper, for reconstruction of these blocks, several temporal-domain, spatial-domain, andfrequency-domain error conceal...

Pictorial query trees for query specification in image databases

A technique that enables specifying complex queries in image databases using pictorial query trees is presented. The leaves of a pictorial query tree correspond to individual pictorial queries that specify which objects should appear in the target images as well as how many occurrences of each object are required. In addition, the minimum required certainty of matching between query-image objec...

Pictorial queries by image similarity

A method for specifying pictorial queries to an image database is introduced. A pictorial query specification consists of a query image, and a similarity level that specifies the required extent of similarity between the query image and database images that are to be retrieved. The query image is constructed by positioning objects so that the desired locational and spatial constraints hold. Two...

A Pictorial Query-by-Example Language

A symbolic image is an array representing a set of objects and a set of spatial relations among them. Symbolic images and related structures have been used in a number of applications including Image Databases, Spatial Reasoning, Path Planning and Spatial Pattern Matching. In this paper we describe a Pictorial Query-By-Example (PQBE) language aimed at the retrieval of direction relations from s...

Query Processing and Optimization for Pictorial Query Trees

Methods for processing of pictorial queries speci ed by pictorial query trees are presented. Leaves of a pictorial query tree correspond to individual pictorial queries while internal nodes correspond to logical operations on them. Algorithms for processing individual pictorial queries and for parsing and computing the overall result of a pictorial query tree are presented. Issues involved in o...
